Theo Karantsalis is an assistant library director at Miami Dade College’s North Campus who oversees outreach services to college and Miami-area high school students. He also freelances for several newspapers, including The Miami Herald.
Theo has more than 20 years’ experience, as he said, “wrestling” public records information from local, state and federal agencies that include the Pentagon, Department of Defense, and the Air Force.
His most recent case is against the Marshals Service where he seeks mug shots of a federal inmate. The case is currently before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Judicial Circuit in Atlanta.
He teaches a class on Internet research and hosts a television show called Library Matters.
When I went to Liberty City on Thursday, Theo was very nice and welcoming. As we drove to the Liberty Square Library he told me a couple of interesting stories about the city and his career as a Journalist and teacher in LC.
Look him up on RateMyProfessor.com and check out his blog: http://552a.com, which has to do mostly with Liberty City.
